L2TP Tunnels, separating OSPF clouds, Dynamic Routing and Monitoring Services are a few of my favourite things. It was nice to have some rain over the weekend. I really enjoy the rain, it gives me a chance to be a geek without the threat of sunshine and the outdoors raining on my parade. So I spent the weekend studying, trying to enhance my geek chi. I had some comments that my articles are getting a bit soft and fluffy. Not enough technical fat to chew, I think this is true, but there is too little space to get technical, so for the moment I'm going to stick to Free Stuff for the masses!

I'd like to start this weeks article off with a disclaimer. I use real life, in the trenches experiences to formulate my articles. It's easy to be inspired by real events and it adds some meat to my articles. For those of you who read them and think, Hey! That was me! I do not use names or talk about my experiences with yourselves or anyone else, so please don't feel threatened or let down. No, I haven't had a complaint, but I thought I'd make it clear right from the get go!

We've been setting up quite a few new computers over the past weeks and there is always a piece of advice I give to my customers for the first week of operation. That is to keep a pen and paper handy to jot things down on. There are so many options available in so many software packages that it is impossible to get everything the way you like it first shot. Remember my shiney new 64bit debian system i rave about? well its six months on and i'm still setting it up the way I like it.

Microsoft Vista has been out on the market since January. I've been watching with interest as to how well it's being taking up.  You may remember my article on whether to buy Vista just yet or to wait out the initial frenzy of issues before taking the plunge.  I've sold one Laptop with Vista pre-installed, admitidally it was actually an accident.
